Colby Conditioning FAQ'S

Questions And Answers About Colby Conditioning Health and Fitness Programs ...

We know you may have questions about our programs and services, many people do, so here’s some answers to the most frequently asked questions we receive.

Q: Your program sounds interesting. But I’ve tried lots of ways to get in shape in the past and I know there are lots of health clubs, weight loss centers, and other places around town that all say “their program is the best”. How are you different?

A: We have a saying around here that “when you train with the best, you don’t have to suffer like the rest.” Almost all our clients have tried different ways to get in shape in the past. Some of those programs have given them some short-term results, most have failed miserably. Our program differs from everything else out there because we don’t just give you an exercise program, we spend time working with you to cover EVERYTHING you need to get in and stay in shape - once-and-for-all. Our programs depending on your goals and needs may cover up to 10 key components that are required for your success - nutrition, supplementation, movement (preparation) training, prehabilitation training, core training, reactive (plyometric) training, resistance training, cardiovascular exercise, flexibility, and our knowledge, accountability and coaching. Our entire staff is certified by the top fitness organizations in the country, And we guarantee you results your money back or your next 12 weeks is FREE! When was the last time someone else offered you that type of guarantee on a fitness program? But don’t just take our word for it, read through our client success stories on our website and in this report. All our clients were real people, with busy schedules, just like you. And we’ve helped them with our program… now we’re ready for you next!

Q: I have a VERY busy schedule, and I’m concerned about being able to fit a fitness routine into my life. How can you help me?

A: Professionally speaking...after working with hundreds of clients over the years we have found that "I don't have time" really means "I'd like to procrastinate a little longer." The truth of the matter is that you MUST make time for your health and taking care of your body today or you may have to make time for disease tomorrow. If you can't fit a 45- 60 minute workout into your life, three days a week, then it may be time to reassess and adjust your priorities. Make this important. Heck, EVERYBODY is busy, but taking care of yourself and your health must become important if you really want to not only look and feel your best, but more importantly avoid so many of the health challenges that plague most folks who have "neglected themselves" for way too long. Our clients have found that having an appointment to workout and fit exercise into their life is very important to making sure they do what’s necessary to take care of themselves. If you’re busy too, then it’s even more important that you DO make time for exercise so you can have more energy, and be able to handle the demands of a hectic schedule.

Q: How quickly can I expect to see results?

A: That depends on how quickly we can help you integrate the program into your life. Obviously the more you can follow the program we put together for you, the faster you will see the results you’re looking for. The majority of our clients generally feel better and have a LOT more energy within the first couple weeks, begin losing weight and inches in the first month, and will typically lose anywhere from 4-12% bodyfat after about three to four months time. For some examples of what’s possible, take a look at what other clients in our facility have achieved. Their results are VERY substantial!

Q: How fast can I lose weight?

A: Doctors suggest losing weight at a rate of 1-2 pounds per week. If you are more than 25% body fat you might even lose fat faster at the beginning of your program. However, since you didn’t gain the weight overnight, you also won’t lose the weight overnight. Commit yourself to long term goals and enjoy the process of developing healthy nutrition and exercise habits that will help you increase energy, look, move, perform and feel better while enjoying life more.

Q: What if I have a friend or spouse that wants to workout with me, can they join the program too?

A: Absolutely! Many of our clients bring a friend or spouse to workout with. We find this can make your workouts even more fun and having additional support in your life to accomplish your goals is always a good thing! Just let us know if you have a friend or your spouse in mind to workout with you, and we’ll have you both in for a consultation.

Q: Your program sounds great, but is it expensive? What are your rates?

A: The investment in our program depends on you. We have 3 different program options to choose from: Program Design, Private Coaching and Semiprivate Coaching. We have clients that train anywhere from 1-4 times per week depending on their schedules, goals, motivation, and budget. But in general the investment runs anywhere from $150 to $1000 and up per month. Keep in mind this is an investment in your health, and without your health… what do you really have? All of our training plans are comprehensive programs that include exercise along with our online meal planning nutrition program. Factors that help us determine what program fits best for you are your goals (how long will it take to achieve them), motivation, schedule and budget.

Most of our clients are enrolled in semiprivate coaching which is a fun effective way to get the most out of your workouts while reducing the cost per person. This program is unique because it provides support, inspiration, and commitment for each other under the guidance and direction of a qualified professional who understands your individual needs and goals. With semiprivate coaching, hourly rates are less than those for individual training. You will have all the benefits that entails individualized training, personal training, but at a lower fee, with less scheduling conflicts and enhanced social support the number 1 factor in achieving success! sessions are limited to no more than 3 people, so you get individualized instruction and supervision from one of our Fitness Coaches.

Our program design option has the least hands on approach and that monthly investment starts at $150 with the option of adding additional services.

Q: What about nutrition? I know that’s a big piece of the puzzle to getting in shape and improving my health over the long term. How can you help me with that?

A: Nutrition is a MAJOR piece of getting in shape and improving your health (YOU CAN’T OUT TRAIN POOR NUTRITION HABITS). In fact, it’s the foundation of everything when it comes to ramping up your metabolism and getting your body to burn fat and build muscle. Exercise does not work without a great nutrition plan. We spend a lot of time working with all our clients on this aspect of their program which includes our online meal planning nutrition program. We’ll also spend time reviewing the importance of nutritional supplementation with you. It’s important that you fill in the voids in what you’re not getting from your diet, and always have good nutrition options that are balanced, convenient, and easy to prepare- so you keep your “metabolic fire” burning!

Q: What if I have injuries or I’m REALLY out of shape (it’s been a while since I worked out) can you still help me? What about the semiprivate coaching setting?

A: Yes, we absolutely can. We’ll review this in more detail in your introductory consultation and initial fitness assessment, but we make sure to start your program at the right pace for you. Your safety is our first and foremost concern. Not only that but all of our programs contain a prehabilitation component that is specifically designed to help rehab injuries or more importantly prevent them. We live in a reactive society meaning most people don’t do anything until they have pain and discomfort, we take and opposite approach and like to be proactive and prevent these things from happening by uncovering asymmetries, muscular imbalances and compensation patterns that may exist in your body. We also take pride in going after and treating root causes instead of the band aid and aspirin approach of treating symptoms that never seem to get any better. All our coaches are nationally certified, and we train our staff in very specific protocols for working with people with all types of special conditions. We’ve worked with clients that have had all types of injuries in the past including lower back, shoulder, hip and knee replacements, stroke, heart attacks, MS, fibromyalgia, and more. Please let us know about your specific conditions and we’ll let you know how we can help. Also, we offer a Physicians Communication Program to coordinate with your doctor on your program and make sure you get the complete care you need. We’re here to help and be part of your recovery and goal achievement team!

As for semi private coaching, no client will be left behind or asked to complete more than they are capable of doing safely. Whether you have five or fifty pounds lose, you'll find that our semi private coaching is just the program for you! Because we vary load and intensity of the workouts (not program design), women and men of all ages, abilities and fitness levels can attend our semi private coaching sessions and achieve incredible results. Give us a shot, and you'll find we can help you improve - in a supportive, yet gently challenging environment - no matter where you're starting from today.

Q: What if I need to cancel an appointment?

A: We require 48-hours notice of any cancellation, regardless of the reasons for such in order to be respectful of time and fair to each and every client. But don’t worry unlike most clubs and studios that just offer one on one training with semiprivate coaching you can just reschedule your missed appointment and make it up without losing out on your investment. All sessions are by appointment only and we take appointments Mon-Thur. starting at 5:30am and go until 7:30pm. Fridays we take appointments from 5:30am and go until 5pm, and Saturdays we take appointments starting at 7am and go until 11:30am. If an appointment for Monday needs to be cancelled we require notification by 5:30pm the saturday before. No cancellations are to be submitted via email. If you are a private training client and you cancel an appointment and do not give 48-hours notice of such then that session will be deducted from your account and you will have forfeited that session. All coaching programs have liberal time limits to use up all sessions in order to account for any vacations or sick time. These time frames will be discussed at the onset of your program with Colby Conditioning. We understand that life gets in the way sometimes and that it may be impossible to give 48-hours notice. We respectfully request that you give us notice at the earliest onset of your knowledge.

Q: Why are you putting so much emphasis on nutrition in my fitness program? I don’t understand, I’m working out with you… why are we talking about nutrition at all?

A: When you joined our coaching program, we discuss your goals and help you understand at that time how important NUTRITION is and why it’s the biggest component of all to your success. Without an emphasis on nutrition, exercise does very little. You see there are three components we focus on for you to get results in a fitness program. Strength training, cardiovascular exercise, and nutrition. They are like a three-legged stool. If one is missing, the stool falls over. It’s really that simple. In our efforts to continue improving our programs, and your results, we’re now putting a greater emphasis on nutrition in working with you because we care about helping you accomplish your goals. And without us getting this component of your program correct, it’s virtually impossible to improve your health and get significant fitness results of any kind.

Q: What is the difference between a coach and a trainer?

A: Here at Colby Conditioning we like to think of ourselves as coaches instead of trainers. Why you say? Well we think a coach offers more, In our minds a coach is someone who can help teach you the tricks and secrets of the game. A coach is someone who can help you achieve your goals and show you how to win the game of health and fitness. Nothing brings us more joy than showing and teaching people like you how to win and be successful!

The below statement written by Vern Gambetta sums it up:

"There is a clear cut difference between coaching someone and training someone. I have been to training sessions all over the world in the past few years and this distinction is clear in any language and in any culture. Those who are training the people are counting reps, looking at the stopwatch and shouting out times. Those who are coaching are closely observing the client, commenting on technique, encouraging and correcting. You can teach anyone to yell out times or to spot to someone, it is much harder to coach, you have to be fully involved have a plan, see the big picture, understand the context of the exercise or the drill and the training sessions. It takes experience and is very mindful. When you are coaching there are not any quick fixes or magic exercises or training toys that go bing. Coaching is a high touch total involvement process. Training is showing up and posting or reading the athlete the workout and turning them lose to go for it. Those that are trainers, not coaches are looking for the magic bullet, the secret workout, the short cut to the championship. Coaches understand that there are not any shortcuts and secrets. Coaching is just hard, planned and directed work that accumulates over time to produce the desired performance. Helping clients, athletes and teams is an incredible long term commitment that demands total focus and concentration. You need to ask yourself are you coaching them or training them. Are you in it for the long haul? Many are called and few are chosen, because when it comes down to it many people are unwilling or unable to make the sacrifice or commitment necessary to truly coach."
